People 'still holidaying in the UK'
03 July 2009
People are still searching for places to holiday in the UK, according to the findings of a holidayhome website.
According to research from Domegos.co.uk, more people have been looking for places to stay within the UK over the past six months.
Co-founder and director of the site Dennis Klett pointed out the benefits of taking a break closer to home.
‘If you stay within the UK, you are going to save on transportation costs; you don't have to fly anywhere,’ he noted.
Figures from Travelodge® also show that the number of Brits planning to go abroad this year has
fallen when compared with last year.
In 2008, 33% of people took a trip overseas, but that figure has dropped by 6% this year.
The UK can offer active holidaymakers a wide range of places to go and activities to take part in, including walking in one of the UK's nine National Parks.
Visitors to the Lake District could also take a break incorporating activities such as canoeing or kayaking.
